Domain transfer for .NG

Transferring of domain involve switching a domain from one registrar to another. It takes 24 hours to complete a .NG domain transfer all things being equal, however, the transfer might be hindered due to any reason. To avoid this, ensure you take the steps below before initiating a transfer

Things to put into consideration before transferring your .ng domain name

• A domain that has been newly registered cannot be transferred except it stays with the current registrar for 60 days.

• You need to unlock your domain name and ask that your current registrar removes all restrictions on your account before the transfer.

• Your registrant details must be valid and correct so you can receive the Transfer Authorization Email to authorize the transfer.

• Your EPP code must be handy

• If the domain you wish to transfer is expired, you must renew with the current registrar before the domain expires. Also, a domain that has been newly renewed must stay 45 days with the current registrar to get an additional year added to your expiration date, if the domain is transferred within 45 days of renewing, the domain forfeits the additional year and the expiration date remains the same, this is a registry restriction.

• Ensure you initiate a domain transfer one month before expiration. This will give you ample time to fix any mistakes and re-initiate the transfer in time.
