The .edu.ng is a restricted TLD(top-level domain) and reserved ONLY for Government Approved tertiary education institutions in Nigeria. It is a recommended domain extension for any academic institute like Colleges & Universities. Before you place an order for a .edu.ng domain name, you need to send us the following documents as these documents are required by NIRA (Nigeria Internet Registration Association) for verification purposes. Once sent, the documents are verified by NIRA, and your domain will be automatically activated. All registrations on the .edu.ng SLD would be at the third level. Various departments or institutions under the qualifying institution may then be subdomains and NOT full domains. To register a .edu.ng domain, send us a mail with the following:
  1. A scanned copy of the certificate of accreditation by relevant authorities like the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education(NBTE), NCCE and any other body as recognized by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that proves that the tertiary institution has been registered.
  2. A scanned copy of a letter on the letterhead of the institution authorizing a member of staff to register the domain on behalf of the institution.This letter should contain the full name, email address, designation, phone number, and contact address of this member of staff. The authorization letter must be signed by the head of the institution or the next officer in the hierarchy.

Lagos Once the above documents are completed, you can place an order for .edu.ng domain registration. We will then send all the above documents to NIRA the .NG domains Registry for approval. After they have verified your documents, your domain will be activated. Generally, it takes 1 Week or more for the documents to be verified and the domain to be activated.
